            Postal directorate has revised the Instant Money Order Tariff with effect from 22.12.2012 vide Letter No.95-02/2012-FS dated 19th December, 2012.
The revised Tariff is as follows :

            In accordance with orders contained in para 3 of the Directorate’s letter No.10-7/82-SPB-II dated 3.8.1984 communicated in Circle office letter No.STA/3-26/79 dated 27.8.1984 read with Directorate’s letter No.35-5/87 LI(Pt) dated 16.8.05 communicated in ML No STA/3-29/2005 dated 5.9.05 and dated 22.08.07 on the subject, and as per rules for selection of Development officers Postal Life Insurance, it is proposed to fill up vacancies against one third quota, as per the prescribed syllabus on the basis of a competitive Examination to be held on 02.02.2013.
           The number of vacancies under one third quota in Tamil Nadu Circle is UR 1.
            Postal Assistant of Postal Division having 5 years of service  who are eligible to appear for IPO/IRM Examination will be eligible for this Examination. There shall be no upper age limit for appointment as DO PLI. There shall be a test on PLI rules and regulations. The pay and allowances of the official if appointed as DO PLI shall not be re-fixed/ revised. They shall draw their pay & allowances as due with future increments as applicable.

(b) P & T Man. Vol VI Part III and chapter 9-A (Pages 2-12)
(c) Chapter 2,3,7,8,9  of PLI Man for Circle Office.

          There will be 60 marks in the written test conducted in accordance with the afore said  syllabus. A minimum of 24 marks must be secured by the official to qualify for being called for the interview. 40 marks will be allotted for the interview and 20 marks must be obtained by the official to qualify for selection as Development officer(PLI)
          The select list will be drawn on the basis of aggregate marks obtained by the candidate who qualify in the written test and interview and the vacancies in the cadre of Development officer(PLI)will be filled from amongst the officials on the basis of this select list in order of merit.
        The  interview  as mentioned in the preceding paras will be conducted by the selection Committee as prescribed  for selection of Development officer(PLI)
         The continued appointment of an eligible candidate to the post of D.O.PLI will be subject to his securing as adequate amount of PLI business. A watch shall be kept on the work of each D.O PLI from month to month and  a review of his work will be made every quarter  with reference to the standards of output prescribed from time to time. If the  quantum of new business  secured by the DO PLI is consistently below the prescribed minimum, the question of transferring/reverting him to his original post will be considered by the Appointing authority and necessary orders issued on the merits of each case.
           
          Subject to the condition mentioned above, a DO PLI shall not be allowed to hold the post for more than a period of ( Five) years continuously at a time. An official who has worked for five years  as a Development Officer shall not be allowed to hold such posts within next five years The period of term shall not be extended in any case other than the official who secured prizes for two continuous years ( for getting an effective business as prescribed by the Department       from time to time) provided such official do not reach the age of superannuation or promotion to higher grade as the case may be .In respect of such officers extension up to a period of one year may be given by the Head of Postal Circle at their discretion. All other cases for extension will be referred to Diorectorate. The tenure of Development Officer may begin /end at the beginning/ close of financial year as far as possible. If an existing  Development Officer  is to complete his tenure before end of September, his tenure may be terminated by the proceeding March so that a fresh tenure appointment may be made effective from April. An exception however, may be made at the discretion of the Head of the Circle, if a particular incumbent’s performance has been extra ordinarily good in which case he may be allowed to continue till the end of next March. If a Development Officer is to complete a tenure after September, he may be allowed to remain Development Officer till next March .
          The examination will be conducted at the following centres.
1.Chennai, 2. Coimbatore 3. Madurai 4. Tiruchirapalli –Subject to change in the  event of lesser number of candidates appearing in any centre.
           This multiple letter should be circulated among the staff including those who are on leave/deputation/training etc., without omission.
          The eligible candidates who desire to appear for the examination will  submit their applications duly filled in (specimen application may be obtained from Divisional Office with written request) to this office on or before 04.01.2013
          The application should be accompanied with a declaration given by the official that he/she is willing to work anywhere in Circle, if he/she is selected as Development officer (PLI) WITH HEADQUARTERS IN ANYONE OF THE DIVISIONS IN TAMILNADU POSTAL CIRCLE.
         Application received after the due date will be rejected.

Sub: Aptitude test for grant of Savings Bank/SC allowance to be held

            The Chief Postmaster General, Tamilnadu  Circle, Chennai 600002 in letter No. REP/40-2/2013/I dated 04.12.12 has intimated that in accordance with the instructions contained in Directorate letter no. 113-07/2010-SB dated 23.08.11,the Savings Bank Aptitude test for grant of SB/SC allowances will be held on 23.02.2013 (Saturday) as per the syllabus prescribed.

Eligibility Conditions:

All PAs who have completed one year service as on 31.12.12. can apply.
The candidates should be prepared to work in SB/SC  branches.
          
The revised syllabus for the above test furnished in Directorate letter.No.113-7/2010-SB dated 23.08.11 which was circulated in Circle Office letter. No. REP/40-1/2005 dated 05.10.2011, will be with aid of books.
       
The last date for submission of application (in the prescribed proforma) by eligible candidate is 04.01.2013  at Divisional office.

The applicant should enclose two pass port size photos with their application.  One photo should be affixed in the application form and other fixed up with  the application.
         
This may please be circulated among all the eligible officials concerned including those on leave/deputation etc. and their signature obtained in token of having seen the circular.

            2. The post carries an allowance in the scale of Rs.2745-50-4245 plus admissible Dearness allowances from time to time.
